This event is designed for 18 to 31+ year olds. It is part social, part science, part environmental volunteering.

Join Amy (Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeater Youth Reference Group Convenor), and Sue & Rachel (FoHH citizen science program), who will share the species data collection procedures we use for plants, frogs and birds. No prior experience needed.

We’ll make our way to a location in Yellingbo Nature Conservation Area that people are rarely invited to. Our session will focus on collecting baseline data at a site where Monash University will be undertaking future reptile surveys and FoHH are planning habitat restoration. What species are currently present in this site? We’ll use iNaturalist to contribute to the 2023 Melbourne Biodiversity Blitz that's happening in September, whilst gaining some transferable industry knowledge and skills, as we learn from each other and enjoy being out in the bush together.
