Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges Councils are partnering with ChildSafe to deliver a free online information session for community organisations and groups on the updated Victorian Child Safe Standards, which have now come into effect.

This online session will support community organisations and groups in the Outer East (Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges) to understand the importance of child safety in organisations, and the key requirements that organisations need to fulfil to be compliant with the updated Standards.

Topics include:

  • Recent changes to child safety legislation and the Victorian Child Safe Standards
  • The 11 Standards, with a focus on key requirements for organisations in the areas of governance, child safe recruitment and training of staff and volunteers, and recognising and reporting abuse.
  • Implications for community groups and organisations
  • Practical ideas and opportunities to discuss and ask questions.

Staff and volunteers from community organisations and groups in the Outer East (Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges), particularly those with management or governance responsibilities, are welcome to register.

Further information on the new Standards is available from the Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP)
