Fauna Monitoring in the Yarra Ranges

Wombat-young-pose.jpg

In 2015, Yarra Ranges Council began a fauna monitoring program using motion sensing cameras to gather data on fauna species within their bushland assets. Motion sensing cameras are effective at detecting many different mammals and some bird species, and this information can be used to inform conservation actions. It is also a great way to engage and promote our environment for biodiversity and habitat values, particularly with the community, our stakeholders and within the organisation. Who doesn’t love animals?

This webinar will cover:

  • an overview of the fauna monitor program
  • species regularly observed
  • rare sightings
  • what we do with the information gathered
  • Q&A
