The Australian Tax office - small business team, are committed to helping you to improve your skills and knowledge to be successful in your business.

They offer free webinars on many topics that suit all small businesses and others that are specific to certain industries or situations.

The webinars are interactive online seminars presented by experienced tax officers. They are live and you can ask questions to help you apply the information to your situation.

These sessions are of interest if you:

  • want to update your knowledge
  • work in any of the industry-specific areas advertised
  • closing your business

  • Starting a small business -  Are you thinking of starting a small business? Maybe you have a hobby that is becoming a business?

  • Considering your small business viability - Are you at a business crossroads? Unsure whether you should continue trading? In this 45-minute session, you will learn how to use our Business Viability Assessment Tool.
  • Introduction to business record  - Are you planning to start or have just started a new business? This 60 minute introductory session will provide information about which business records to keep, the legal requirements, how long to keep your records and why keeping good records is so important. This is a basic session that also introduces the benefits of developing good record keeping habits as well as the tools that assist in managing your records.

  • Budgeting for your commitments - Learn a simple five-step process to stay on top of your regular financial commitments. Find out how to identify business activities that trigger financial responsibilities and get practical help to plan for and meet your future commitments.

  • Cash flow for small business success -This 60 minute session will provide critical knowledge and cash flow management skills. Gain insights into how to identify issues and use a range of tips to help maximise cash flow. By attending this virtual session, it will help you improve your cash flow management by mapping cash flow in and out of your business, analysing and tracking your cash flow and monitoring your cashflow by using the seven tips to maximise cash flow. There will be plenty of opportunities along the way to ask questions.

  • Digital options for your small business - As a small business owner, are you aware of the vast range of online services and digital systems that can help you performs your business activities, such as marketing, sales, accounting and reporting? This online 60 minute session will provide insights into the benefits you can get from digital systems and what systems are available for each area of your business operations.

  • Running a Home Based Business -  Are you a home based business and wondering what expenses you may be able claim?This 60 minute session will provide insights into what expenses like electricity, cars, gas and phone, can you claim for tax deductions and how to calculate the amounts that you can clai
