The extra rubbish or recycling bin for a medical needs waste service is only for regular household waste items. This includes packaging items and incontinence aids.
This service is not available for medical or clinical waste (such as sharps, large amounts of blood or urine, human tissue or items from patients with a contagious disease.) These items should never go in Council kerbside bins.
The medical needs waste service is available to:
residential properties within the Yarra Ranges.
someone with a medical condition, disability or chronic illness; who needs an additional waste service to dispose of medical needs related waste (e.g. excess packaging.)
Please note: The medical needs waste service requires re-application in two years. This will determine if the service is still needed or can be discontinued.

You will need to provide supporting information to complete your application.
This includes a letter from a registered medical practitioner describing your need for an additional bin for a medical needs reason.
Please ensure the letter includes:
your name
property address
medical practitioners contact information.
confirms your need for an additional medical waste bin.
