The Fire Danger Period has commenced
The Country Fire Authority has introduced the declared Fire Danger Period within the Yarra Ranges Municipality as of the 23 December 2024 until the 1 May 2025 (or before if the prevailing weather conditions allow).
This means “burning off” in the open is no longer permitted.
More information relating to the restrictions can be found on the CFA website.
Fire Danger Period Permits
Businesses or individuals who need to use fire in the open air to conduct their work or activity during the Fire Danger Period may require a permit.
Permit applications are assessed in accordance with the Country Fire Authority Act 1958. Visit the CFA website to learn about Fire Danger Period Permits.
Applications for permits during a Fire Danger Period will be considered based on local and expected conditions. Permits may or may not be granted.
Submitting an application does not guarantee that a permit will be issued. Any permit issued may be suspended for a period of time at the direction of CFA or by declaration of a Total Fire Ban. A permit may also be cancelled by the issuing officer.
You can check if you require a permit online through the Fire Permits Victoria website.
Please Note: Permits to use fire during the Fire Danger Period are only considered where the purpose of burn is determined to be essential (e.g. control crop residues, pest or weed control).
