Lilydale Wayfinding Strategy

Lilydale is a significant township acting as an urban employment, transport, and service hub. It is a tourism and economic gateway to the wider Yarra Ranges region.

A wayfinding strategy study can identify access to and from main landmarks and create the opportunity for community and local visitors to better navigate the central space of Lilydale.

What is the benefit of a Wayfinding Strategy Study?

By creating a Wayfinding Strategy study, Council can:

  • Enhance place-making outcomes and improve clarity of destinations, supporting the commercial success of businesses and improving the experience for our local community and visitors.
  • Declutter the streetscape and create opportunities for a range of wayfinding elements.
  • Creates a sense of belonging within the municipal signage suite.
  • Strengthen our visitation and profitability within retail precincts.
  • Assist in the development of the wayfinding strategy - advising on the types and costs of alternative methods of construction, materials, and finishes - to ensure that the most favourable economical solution is established.

What will the outcome of the study be?

  • A Wayfinding Audit Report of all signage around Lilydale Central Business District (along Main Street.)
  • An evidence-based Wayfinding Strategy supported by analysis, concept design and implementation recommendations.

Where in Lilydale will this be located?

The study will use Lilydale Town Centre with a broader view to pinpoint major points of interest for our local community and visitors. This will also focus on Lilydale Central Business District.
