Proposed Yarra Glen Netball Improvements

About the project

We're putting together a proposal to gain funding through the Sport and Recreation Victoria's Country Football and Netball program.

The proposal seeks to secure funding for improvements to Yarra Glen Football Netball Club.

Upgrades include the building of a new second Netball court, the resurfacing of the existing Netball court to provide two Netball Victoria compliant competitions courts as well as the installation of new LED Lighting to Australian Standard (200 lux) for netball competition and installation of new surrounding fencing.

About the club

Yarra Glen Football Netball Club boasts 11 netball teams (5 senior and 6 junior) equating to 132 female participants. In addition to this, the club has high participation in football with 3 senior men’s teams, 3 junior female and 4 junior boys teams, giving a total of 392 players across the club.

The current netball facilities are less than desirable as the court surface condition is poor, increasing risk of injury. The current lighting infrastructure does not meet Australian Standard for outdoor netball/basketball and poses further risk to participants.

This project will provide the club with facilities that are safe, compliant and provide the opportunity to attract new players and further grow participation. It is expected that this project would see an increase of 25% in netball at Yarra Glen adding an additional 33 participants to the club.
