"I first became involved with Bookaburra in 2013.

I chose to volunteer because I liked the idea of reading to small children and thus encouraging them and their families to gain a love of books and reading.

Bookaburra entails reading books, telling stories, singing songs and rhymes, and a simple craft activity related to the theme of the day that children can manage without too much help.

Through the reading and activities, we have an opportunity to connect with families, engage young children and share the joy and importance of literacy in children’s early development.

Our story time sessions have a positive impact on the community by fostering a love of reading and books from a young age and an opportunity for families to make new friends and meet other families in their community."
