Corporate Vaccination Program available for businesses

Did you know that businesses can organise on-site workplace flu vaccinations through Council? 

Council is inviting local businesses to sign up to its Workplace Flu Vaccine Program, where specialised nurses visit worksites to administer vaccinations ahead of the winter months, when influenza is most active. 

Yarra Ranges Mayor, Jim Child, encouraged businesses to keep their staff safe over flu season. 

“When winter hits, the flu hits with it and workplaces are extremely vulnerable places for transmitting illnesses like these which really impacts their bottom line” Cr Child said. 

“By giving your staff the opportunity to get their flu shot, you minimise their chances of getting ill – meaning an easier winter for them- and businesses can get through the cold months with more staff stability. 

“It can have a big impact on local businesses if flu impacts multiple staff.  

“For employees, it means they can reduce the chances of getting their loved ones ill, and avoid the aches and pains of the flu, which can knock people around for many weeks. 

“I invite our local businesses to get in touch with our teams, to organise  a session on site at your location. A small pain in the arm can save a big pain for our local businesses and staff.” 

For the program to be organised, a minimum of 15 staff members need to participate. For organisations with less than 15 staff members, nearby businesses can band together and organise a combined session. To participate in the program, businesses can fill in an expressions of interest form now, after which Council’s Immunisation Team will get in touch to book a time that suits the workplace. We plan to commence the service in mid- April. 

Posters, sign-up sheets and a link to an electronic consent form will be provided, with two specialist nurses coming to administer vaccines on the day, serving up to 60 people per hour. 

The workplace will then be invoiced for the service.
