Help shape the future of Seville Recreation Reserve

Submissions closed on 26 April 2020, 11:59 PM

Council is asking community members for feedback on a Draft Master Plan for Seville Recreation Reserve.

The Recreation Reserve is home to a popular water play park, sculptures with artwork made by community members, a playspace, netball courts, and a football oval. Changing rooms and toilets for community members are available at the reserve.

A Draft Master Plan has been created with direct feedback from key stakeholders and user groups for the reserve, mapping out projects to be completed in the coming 10 years.

The Draft Master Plan outlines a number of improvements for the reserve, including:

  • Upgrade main oval to provide a better sports surface
  • A.H. Chandler Pavilion to receive upgraded social space, community spaces and additional amenities to support increased female participation
  • Development of a community space adjacent to playspace as a village green
  • Advocate for reduced variable speed limits along Monbulk-Seville Road during peak waterplay season, improved road surface and a slip lane into the Recreation Reserve
  • Improve car parking across the Reserve, including the Pony Club, to ease congestion during peak times
  • Improve path network across the Reserve to provide linkages to all sporting and community recreation infrastructure and improved access to main shopping precinct
  • Formalise the dog off-lead area at the north end of the Reserve.

We're asking community members to look over the Draft Master Plan and share their thoughts with us in the brief survey below.

Once the Draft Master Plan engagement has ended, it will be reviewed using the feedback gathered here before returning to Council to be finalised.

What is a Master Plan?

Council creates Master Plans to map out how an area (such as a park or recreation reserve) will change over a long period of time (up to 10 or 20 years).

These changes could include adding in buildings, park equipment, playgrounds, paths or features that we've identified a need for, from community feedback, data and trends.

When we create a Master Plan, we gather feedback from the community about what they would like to see in an area and use that, along with data and expert opinion, to create a draft plan.

The Draft Master Plan is then put back out to the community, so we can get more feedback and ensure our plan has got all the details and ideas right.

We can’t always include everyone’s ideas or suggestions into a Draft Master Plan, but we’ll look over everyone’s feedback and create something that works for the community, while planning for future residents and visitors.

Once the draft plan has been out for public feedback, it will be discussed at a public Council meeting and be endorsed.

After that happens, we'll start working on the projects in the plan.

For this project, we’ve received feedback from community members and user groups of the reserve and have compiled that – with expert opinion – into the Draft Master Plan.

Once this consultation ends, we’ll look over the new feedback, make any changes necessary and send the Master Plan to Council for final endorsement.
