CCTV Policy and protocols on Council premises

Important Customer Notice: Recording of Entry into Civic Centre Premises 

Yarra Ranges Council (Council) would like to inform its customers and the broader community that, in accordance with Council's CCTV Policy, access to the Civic Centre, including the Chamber and Gallery areas, will be subject to video recording. These recordings will be handled per Council’s responsibilities outlined in the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).

The purpose of this surveillance is to enhance the security and safety measures within our premises, ensuring a secure and safe environment for all visitors, councillors and staff members. The recorded footage will only be used for security purposes and will not be made public or disclosed to any third party unless required by law enforcement authorities or as stipulated by legal obligations.

Please be advised that the recorded data will be stored securely and retained for a limited period in accordance with the CCTV Policy. Access to these recordings will be restricted to authorised personnel only, who are bound by strict confidentiality obligations.
