Songbird Early Learning Centre

Our 3 and 4 year old Kindergarten is a play-based learning curriculum that will be linked to the EYLF outcomes and the NQS. (based upon children's interests, strengths, abilities, family input and decision making). The routine is flexible according to children's interests, strengths, abilities and needs.

The program structure:

• Indoor / outdoor activities
• Planned and spontaneous activities
• Routine and transition
• Individual, small groups and whole group activities
• promoting / implementing literacy and numeracy skills
• Implementing school readiness

Within children's learning we include international teaching which is achieved through role modelling, supporting. encouraging, facilitating and demonstrating a range of skills.

Communicating with parents is an important part of getting to know children and their families. We achieve this by:

• Verbal discussions / decision making about children's learning
• Written parent goals for each of their children
• Newsletters
• Gathering information through 'about me' and 'my weekend' forms
• Parent information nights in June and December to meet with parents and discuss progress, share portfolios and getting parent feedback.
• Inviting parents to share their knowledge and skills
• Asking parents to be a 'parent helper' for a day
• Involving parents in incursions/excursions

Our team of educators are dedicated to providing the best care and environment to foster children's sense of self/belonging and prepare them for the many years of learning that they have ahead of them.
