If you have been playing or learning a string, woodwind, brass or percussion instrument for a while and feel the need to play with other like-minded people come along and play with Dandenong Ranges Orchestra. DRO’s membership is drawn from local (and wider) professional and amateur musicians of all ages and abilities who enjoy playing the classical repertoire together under the baton of a professional musical director. No auditions are required but Grade 5 strings gives an idea of the standard of the repertoire that is played. But if you’re not at that level you are still welcome to come along with your instrument to listen and learn - be prepared to grow as an instrumentalist!
DRO presents three concerts per year of varying classical repertoire that regularly includes original compositions by local composers. Rehearsals are held on Mondays at 8-10pm at the Community Music Hub in Upwey and are relaxed and friendly as well as musically challenging. Please get in touch especially if you live in the hills area and love to play classical music. Vacancies currently exist for all sections of the orchestra, especially strings and brass.
