Citizen Science event – Flora, Frog and Fungi survey

Next date: Wednesday, 23 October 2024 | 09:30 AM to 01:30 PM

P1074057

The Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeater invite you to join us for a morning of citizen science, paying particular attention to the plants, frogs and fungi.

Our mission? With no experience or knowledge needed, and a few minutes to learn, our focus will be on:

  • recording the naturally occurring species present along a transect line at this largely undisturbed site
  • depending on the season, we'll record the frogs (using FrogID), insects (10-minute survey), flora, fungi and other fauna (using iNaturalist).

Our time will be spent under the dappled shade of a beautiful expanse of Eucalyptus trees, walking a section of the Conservation Area that visitors rarely see.

This morning is all about learning from each other, with a focus on enjoying being out in the bush together. No experience is needed, just a willingness to participate and share. You'll have the opportunity to learn about the management priorities, successes and challenges for this important ecosystem.
