46 Silvertop Ash Heathy Dry Forest (EVC 20)
Community structure
Woodland to low open forest to 25m high with an open crown cover of several eucalypts especially Eucalyptus dives (Broad-leaf Peppermint), E. macrorhyncha (Red Stringybark) and E. radiata (Narrow-leaf Peppermint). The middle storey is dominated by a low, sparse to dense layer of narrow-leaved shrubs including heaths and peas, to 4m high. The ground layer includes a wide variety of grasses, lilies and creepers but do not provide much cover.
Distribution
Several small patches of this community occur on the west slopes of Mt. Toole-be-wong near Healesville. It grows on shallow, rocky skeletal soils on exposed aspects on ridge tops and steep slopes at elevations between 280-500m.
