39 Sedge Wetland Complex (EVC 136)

Community structure 

Generally treeless vegetation dominated by sedges and rushes with aquatic and semi-aquatic herbs, often on deep peat. There may be some isolated shrubs. Diversity is low but may be richer on edges and more ephemeral spots. There may be several zones within this community including standing water. 

Distribution 

Seasonal wetlands and freshwater swamps on floodplains. There are very few communities left within the Shire and these are scattered on different waterways.  

Typical suburbs/areas occurring in this EVC are:  Hoddles Creek, Macclesfield, Healesville.
