Our Histories

Audience: Foundation to Year 2
Duration: 45 mins

Our Histories asks students to discover the uses for some of the objects on display and to consider how time changes so many things – not just objects. Students begin mapping history by learning about chronology in a fun exercise that orders objects over time. Students are introduced to and begin to learn about the significant stories of Aboriginal people at Coranderrk.

Program curriculum area

This program will address students’ understanding of change over time by engaging with objects as historical sources. We will do this with a focus on curriculum areas: History, F to Level 2 – Historical Sources as Evidence (VCHHC055) and Community Histories (VCHHK065). This program also meets the cross-curriculum priority of learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and culture.

Key themes
