Audience: Year 3 and 4 Duration: 45 mins
This program is set is the Connections gallery where we explore how objects from the past can inform us about our history and how our local area has been shaped. We uncover some significant stories of Aboriginal people at Coranderrk, as well as other local and world stories. Students use objects to investigate real museum pieces and report back on their findings.
The program will address students’ understanding of First Contacts history in their own community, including William Barak, Coranderrk and the de Pury family at Yeringberg. We will focus on curriculum area: History, Levels 3 & 4 – First Contacts (VCHHK081). This program also meets the cross-curriculum priority of learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and culture.
