I Connect - Museum Education Program

A mother and young child observing traditional Aboriginal artefacts

Learning beyond the classroom with curriculum-aligned school programs that foster critical thinking, spark curiosity and increase cultural awareness.

Developed and delivered by experienced educators, our programs use object-based learning to provide creative and engaging experiences for primary school age students. Situated on Wurundjeri country in Lilydale, students are invited to explore Yarra Ranges Regional Museum’s rich collections, discovering the stories, places and people who make this region unique.

Students have the opportunity to:

  • Develop knowledge of local and regional history, local First Contacts history and the impact of European settlement on Wurundjeri and other Aboriginal people who lived at Coranderrk.
  • Develop practical skills such as the use of objects and photographs as primary sources.
  • Develop critical thinking skills that will enable students to more effectively analyse, interpret and create narratives about the past and present.

Education programs are bookable by request and delivered on site at the Museum.

We encourage you to add one of our Creative Learning Programs to your excursion or access as a post-visit extension, adding a fun and meaningful hands-on creative activity to students' learning experience.
