Our latest water park, playspace and recreation area for people of all ages.

There is also a fabulous picnic and barbecue area, brand new toilet facilities and amazing water features, including a drenching bucket.

The park also features an open space, which can be used for community events.

Visiting Warburton Water World

The water play part of Warburton Water World will be active from 21 September, 2024 until 28 April 2025.

The water play park is located at 20 Woods Point Road, Warburton, next to the Warburton Caravan Park.

If driving from Melbourne/Lilydale, the park is on your right after the turnoff to Mount Donna Buang (heading towards East Warburton).

Like our other parks, reserves and water play parks in Yarra Ranges, Warburton Water World is free to all visitors and there is no booking system available.

Please be mindful that car parking is limited and the park may be busy on warm days.

On days of an Extreme or Code Red Fire Danger Rating, water jets at Warburton Water World will not be operating.

Equipment

When using play equipment at any of our parks or reserves, children should always be supervised and encouraged to use equipment that meets their needs and ability.

At Warburton Water World, the playspace area located closest to the caravan park admin building is a junior play area, while the area further away from the caravan park admin building (with the giant slide) is suitable for older children. The water play area is suitable for all ages.

Water treatment

The water at Warburton Water World is UV sterilised, ph-controlled and disinfected using chlorine. The water is filtered every two hours, water quality is monitored and adjusted automatically.

Car parking

There is limited car parking located at Warburton Water World. Please make sure to only park in designated parking areas as illegally parked cars impacts local traffic safety and accessibility to the water park.

Officers will be on site during peak visitation periods to ensure that visitors are parked legally and safely.

History

The park opened in September, 2020, following years of community engagement about the former Warburton Pool site, which closed in 2009-10.

The Warburton Community Recreation Precinct (now Warburton Water World) project came about to replace the former pool with a community playground, water play park and event space.

Community groups worked with Council to develop concept plans for the site, with workshops held in 2016. In 2018, updated plans and 3D images were presented to the community, ahead of construction beginning in 2019.

This project was created in partnership with the Federal Government (which provided $1.7m for the project through the Regional Growth Fund), the Warburton Advancement League (which provided $20,000 for a train engine with junior slide) and the Warburton Sports Centre Committee (which provided $120,000 towards the playspace equipment). Council contributed the remaining $2.8 million towards the project.

Students at Millwarra and Warburton primary schools were given the opportunity to name the new park and chose the name Warburton Water World.

Please visit safely

When visiting Warburton Water World in warmer months, please be safe when parking, crossing any roads and using the park equipment.

Wash hands regularly, be sun-smart and ensure children are appropriately supervised - especially around water.

When planning your travel to the Yarra Valley, have a back-up location in mind, in case you arrive to a full car park.

Nearby attractions include the East Warburton Redwood Forest, the Yarra River behind Warburton's main street and the Little Peninsula Tunnel.

We also have water play parks in Seville and at Lillydale Lake. Find out more about Council's water play parks.
