Murrup Brarn Yarra Flats Billabong

Murrup Brarn Yarra Flats Billabong.jpg

Yarra Flats Billabong is an important reserve in the Yarra Ranges, being one of the few remaining publicly owned wetlands in the middle Yarra region. It is home to a range of indigenous flora and fauna, included plants of regional significance and the Latham Snipe, which visits all the way from Japan when the billabongs are in flood. The trails are dotted with educational signs, and there is a small viewing platform over the wetland. A monument marks a significant moment in Aboriginal and white settler interaction in the area.

Limited space for parking at entrance off Melba Hwy. Can also be accessed via pedestrian bridge over the Yarra, from Yarra Glen Showgrounds road.
