Oonah is a celebration and showcase of the unique programs and activities offered by Oonah Aboriginal Health and Community Services, located on Wurundjeri Country in Healesville, Victoria. These works were made by participants and families of Oonah’s Playgroup, Youth Club and Earth Heart Spirit programs.  

Through its programming Oonah strives to uphold a Culturally respectful approach that includes and strengthens all peoples, traditions, stories, and Culture, now and for future generations. Acknowledging everyone’s personal journey to discovering their Cultural connection as well as Respect for Traditional ways, Lore and Custom is paramount when providing services and care planning. 

 

About Oonah Aboriginal Health and Community Services  

Oonah is a welcoming and Culturally affirming service in Melbourne’s Metro East. It is a central point of contact for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples for information, services and programs that are focused on building a healthy and strong Community.

About Yarra Ranges Regional Museum 

Opened in 2011, Yarra Ranges Regional Museum promotes a greater understanding of the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the Yarra Ranges region through exhibitions, collections and programs. 

The Museum is custodian of a collection of over 13,000 cultural objects, including Indigenous belongings related to Coranderrk Aboriginal Station and a sub-collection related to opera diva Dame Nellie Melba (1861-1931).
