Mars

Marvel at the mysterious Martian landscape with Questacon’s Mars pop-up exhibition.

Mars has captured our collective imagination for thousands of years. From tracing the path of a wandering red star in the night sky through to landing rovers on the planet’s surface, the closer we look at Mars the more it inspires scientists and storytellers alike.

Featuring high-resolution images from NASA and the European Space Agency, Mars showcases how our understanding and relationship of the red planet has changed. The more we learn about Mars, the more we learn about ourselves and our own small place in the universe.

Today Mars is a cold, dry desert. But as we look closer, we have discovered that it was once much more like our own warm, wet Earth. Could we find evidence on that life once existed on Mars?

Fascinating Fungi

Unearth the amazing world of mushrooms, yeasts and moulds at Questacon’s Fascinating Fungi exhibition.

Fascinating Fungi features 20 high-resolution macrophotography images, including the amazing work of Stephen Axford and Catherine Marciniak from Planet Fungi. See the bright colours and strange shapes of fungi in stunning detail and discover how these humble organisms form the foundations of our ecosystems.

From field mushrooms to antibiotics and the largest organism alive – fungi are as varied as they are useful. In fact, there might be ten times as many species of fungi as there are of plants!

Discover this intriguing world at Fascinating Fungi.
