City Nature Challenge at Lillydale Lake

Learn all about citizen science and take part in the iNaturalist City Nature Challenge! Join one of our walks to search for insects, birds and other wildlife that inhabit the area around the wetlands at Lillydale Lake or hear a talk about frogs of the Yarra Ranges. 

• Discover birds and other wildlife

• Go on an insect hunt

• Hear about the frogs of Yarra Ranges; where to find them and how to report sightings

• Learn about water bugs and water ecology

• And more...

Drop in at any time between 10am and 1pm. Walks are scheduled and there will be talks and information available at the marquee throughout the duration of the event.

Where to find us

The City Nature Challenge marquee will be located not far from the bridge near the wetlands. The marquee will be the meeting point for walks and will be the location of the frog talk and water bugs etc.

The City Nature Challenge

The City Nature Challenge is a global event where cities around the world compete over a four day period to see who can contribute the most observations of flora, fauna and fungi to iNaturalist, a citizen science platform. This year's challenge runs from Friday 25 to Monday 28 April.

We'll have people available to help you use iNaturalist, however, we recommend you download iNaturalist to your phone via your phone's app store or sign up at inaturalist.ala.org.au. before the day.
