Skip bins

Please note: Only registered skip bin companies can apply for a skip bin permit. Residents and property owners need to contact a local company to hire a skip bin.

Step 1.Prepare your application

To complete your application, you will need to provide:  

  • your ABN 

  • a copy of your public liability insurance certificate for a minimum of $20 million. This policy must be valid for the entire permit period.  

  • credit card information to process your payment upfront. 

Please note: your skip bin permit application will incur a $70 fee.

Step 2.Apply for a skip bin permit

You can apply and pay for a skip bin permit online through Service Victoria.

Permit conditions

Council will not approve any permit application, where the Skip Bin can be placed safely on private property.

The Skip Bin site must be safe and provide convenient access to members of the general public.

The Skip Bin must have:

  • Hazard lights placed on the corners of the container nearest to traffic between the hours of sunset and sunrise.
  • Materials in the Skip Bin must not rot or cause offensive odours.
  • Skip Bins must be removed by the end of the day the permit expires.

You will need to directly contact Council if you wish to cancel or make changes to your skip bin permit application.
