Kilsyth Festival Goes From Strength to Strength

Local support for the Kilsyth Festival held at Elizabeth Bridge Reserve grows year-by-year with this year’s event seeing record numbers attending since it first began in 2013.

The festival, run by the Kilsyth Community Action Group in conjunction with Friends of Elizabeth Bridge Reserve, began as a way to encourage locals to engage with their natural surroundings and to promote environmentally sustainable businesses and activities from across the Yarra Ranges.

This year’s event was officially opened by Cr Len Cox and featured two council run stalls - one promoting the Master Plan for Elizabeth Bridge Reserve and one that focused on community volunteering.

Visitors to the festival enjoyed music, a street dancing performance, face painting, dog club demonstrations, circus performers, food and goods stalls including locally sourced honey for sale and lots more. Several organisations had collection points for plastic bottle tops that will be recycled into 3D printed hands, disability aids, STEM training tools and aged care gadgets.
