Pedestrian crossing in Belgrave, Ferny Creek and Sherbrooke

  • Project typePedestrian Crossing Upgrade

Upgrades are being planned for pedestrian crossing improvements in Ferny Creek, Belgrave, and Sherbrooke. These enhancements will involve installing refuge islands and improving footpaths along the ngurrak barring | RidgeWalk track, ensuring heightened safety and accessibility for the community.

The ngurrak barring | RidgeWalk project is a 39 km walking track which celebrates the art, landscape, history and culture of the Dandenong Ranges. RidgeWalk delivers 14 km of new and improved pathways which will encourage physical activity, provide spaces for social gatherings and foster greater engagement with the environment and culture.

Ferny Creek

The crossing will enhance safety by providing a formal pedestrian refuge island on Mount Dandenong Tourist Road. Surrounding footpaths will be upgraded to improve access to the crossing and nearby bus stop, promoting pedestrian and vehicular safety.

Belgrave

Similar to Ferny Creek, this crossing on Monbulk Road will feature a refuge island for pedestrian safety. Upgraded footpaths will connect the crossing to bus facilities and parking areas, enhancing overall safety and accessibility.

Sherbrooke

This crossing on Sherbrooke Road will be receiving a kerb and channel for pedestrian safety. Signage and line marking improvements will enhance safety for pedestrians and vehicles alike.
