Living in a Caravan

It is an offence under the Neighbourhood Amenity Local Law 2020 to live in a caravan in a manner that causes a nuisance.

Do you need a Building or Planning permit to live in a Caravan on private property?

Building Permit - You may require a building permit depending on how you use your caravan, An attached structure such as a deck, verandah and associated timber and concrete stumps require a building permit to be obtained prior to works commencing. For further information you will need to speak with a Building Surveyor for advice on 1300 368 333.

Planning Permit – To determine if you need a Planning Permit to live in a caravan on a particular property, you will need to speak with a Planner for advice on 1300 368 333. Planners will consider a number of elements, including but not limited to: location and land use, duration/length of stay and the number of caravans proposed to be placed on the property.

 

Caravan Parks
