Things you'll need for this activity

  • Rocks

  • Colander

  • Coloured crayons

  • Placemat/ cloth

  • Baking tray

  • Aluminium Foil

  • Access to oven 

 


What you'll learn in this activity 

Ages: 7- 12 years

Purpose: Explore nature by collecting rocks and creating beautiful art piece! These Rock art can be used to tell a story, counting, sorting and creating fun games.

Let's play!

  1. Adult help and supervision is needed.

  2. Collect rocks, wash and dry them.

  3. Spread clean rocks onto a foil - lined cookie tray and put them in the oven at 180’c to heat up.

  4. Once rocks are hot, transfer them onto a protected surface.

  5. Choose your crayon and place it on the rock. The crayon melts over the surface of the hot rocks and creates a smooth, vibrant, colourful coating that hardens into a waxy shell.

  6. Design swirls, dots, stripes or anything else.
